Kisspeptin-10 is the bioactive C-terminal decapeptide of the kisspeptin family. Its ten amino acids bind the G protein-coupled receptor KISS1R, which sits on GnRH neurons. The kisspeptin-KISS1R axis is therefore one of the earliest regulatory levels in reproductive endocrinology.
The signaling chain can be described in three steps:
Kisspeptin-10 is the shortest bioactive form in the family and binds KISS1R on GnRH neurons. The receptor sits high in the hormonal cascade; from there, the pathway leads via GnRH to the release of LH and FSH. The short sequence is attractive for research: well defined, easy to compare and clearly distinguishable from the longer Kisspeptin-54 variant with its 54 amino acids.
LH is not released evenly but in pulses. The frequency and amplitude of these pulses carry essential information to the gonads. The fact that Kisspeptin-10 changed precisely this pulse pattern in the human studies makes it an interesting tool for research into hypothalamic-pituitary regulation. For endocrinology, this is a central starting point, because pulse frequency can shape the quality of the signal reaching the gonads.
In a controlled study in healthy men, acute administration of Kisspeptin-10 triggered a rapid rise in LH. Group means were 12.4 IU/L 30 minutes after administration and 4.1 IU/L before it (n=6).
During continuous administration, the frequency and amplitude of LH pulses also increased, and testosterone rose in the protocols studied. These results relate to hormonal surrogate endpoints. They do not demonstrate improved fertility, increased libido or a long-term treatment effect.
The gonadotropin response is not the same in all people. In direct comparative studies, Kisspeptin-10 stimulated the release of LH and FSH in men and in women during the preovulatory phase. In the follicular protocols studied, this stimulation did not occur.
The preovulatory phase prepares the LH surge that triggers ovulation. The fact that Kisspeptin-10 stimulated release in this phase but not in the follicular protocols underlines the role of the hormonal environment in signal strength.
The hormonal context therefore also helps determine the response. Results from a male cohort cannot readily be transferred to women, and cycle phase is part of the interpretation in female models. Sex-specific protocols are therefore not a detail in kisspeptin research but a prerequisite for robust conclusions.
An exploratory infusion study from 2026 recorded the course over 24 hours. In three healthy men, there was a clear initial rise in LH, followed by a partial decline, while LH remained above baseline.
The dynamics show that the endocrine response is time-dependent. The duration and mode of delivery shape the pattern, and the axis responds more like a feedback loop than like a simple switch. For longitudinal questions, what matters is therefore not only whether the axis responds but also how long the response lasts.

No analytical batch data is currently published for this product.
The number stands for the ten amino acids of the decapeptide, meaning the length of the C-terminal sequence. It is a structural detail, not an amount or dosage specification.
Kisspeptin-54 consists of 54 amino acids and is studied separately with its own research questions. Findings on fertility or libido from Kisspeptin-54 studies therefore cannot be transferred to Kisspeptin-10.
In the comparative studies, Kisspeptin-10 stimulated gonadotropin release in women during the preovulatory phase, while it did not in the follicular protocols studied. The hormonal environment therefore helps determine how strongly the axis responds.
The studies primarily recorded LH concentrations, pulse frequency and pulse amplitude, as well as testosterone in the protocols studied. These are hormonal surrogate endpoints, not evidence of fertility or treatment success.
